The Thermal Grizzly Mycro Direct-Die CPU Water Cooler RGB for Socket AM5

The AM5 Mycro Direct-Die RGB is a water cooler for AMD’s Ryzen 7000 and 9000 processors, including the new 9000X3D models, which sits directly on the chiplets of a delidded CPU. Made from nickel-plated copper, the direct die water cooler offers outstanding thermal conductivity. This is further enhanced by an optimised structure of micro-fins on the top. Additionally, when cooling directly on the die, there is no layer of thermal paste or the CPU’s heat spreader, significantly improving the heat transfer from the CPU to the water cooling circuit.

Visually, the AM5 Mycro Direct-Die RGB has a stylish appearance. On the nickel-plated base plate, there is a block made of acrylic glass, which is subjected to a tempering process after machining. The tempering process relieves the acrylic glass of internal surface tensions, ensuring that no stress cracks develop in the acrylic glass even after prolonged use.

High-performance CPU water block with RGB lighting

A cover made of anodised aluminium is magnetically attached to it. 13 RGB LEDs integrated into the lid illuminate the side acrylic glass and the G1/4-inch threads, with the lid being able to be mounted so that the RGB connection cable can be routed upwards or downwards. The RGB lighting is connected via a 3-pin ARGB header (+5V/DATA/GND).

The nickel-plated surface of the AM5 Mycro Direct-Die RGB is compatible with traditional thermal pastes and gallium-based liquid metals. The nickel forms a barrier layer between the liquid metal and the copper cooler, preventing the liquid metal from diffusing into the copper and minimising alloy formations. This generally eliminates the need for reapplying liquid metal multiple times.

For a maintenance-free system, a KryoSheet graphene thermal pad can be used as a thermal interface between the CPU and the AM5 Mycro Direct-Die RGB. Since KryoSheet pads are electrically conductive, a cover is included to protect the electronic components on the CPU package.
