The NF-S12A case fan represents the third generation of Noctua’s classic S12 series, which has received more than 250 awards and recommendations from international tech publications. With its refined blade geometry featuring Anti-Stall Knobs and the new AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frame, the NF-S12A achieves up to 8% higher efficiency (airflow-to-noise ratio) compared to its renowned predecessor.

The ULN version offers ultra-low-speed options (800/600 RPM) for virtually silent operation, making it perfect for ultra-low noise applications and noise-sensitive users. Noctua’s AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frame includes integrated vibration pads, a stepped inlet design, and inner surface microstructures, enhancing performance-to-noise efficiency.

The stepped inlet design creates more turbulence in the airflow intake, facilitating the transition from laminar to turbulent flow, which adheres better to the frame (flow attachment). This improves the fan’s suction capacity, especially in confined intake spaces.

The inner surface microstructures within the frame create a boundary layer that interacts with the blade tips. This reduces flow separation on the suction side of the blade tips, significantly lowering tonal noise while improving pressure and airflow efficiency.

The ULN (Ultra-Low-Noise) version provides 800 RPM and 600 RPM settings via the included adapter, making it perfect for silent enthusiasts who demand ultra-low speeds and minimal noise.

The NF-S12A is equipped with the second-generation version of Noctua’s proven SSO bearing system. In SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the fan axis for improved stabilisation, resulting in enhanced precision and durability.
