SONOFF Dongle-LMG21 is a compact and versatile ZigBee/Thread USB gateway, designed for stable and flexible integration of smart home devices with popular open source platforms. With its proven EFR32MG21 chip, adjustable antenna, ability to operate in different modes (coordinator, router, Thread RCP) and ready-to-use quick flash tools, the device is a functional communication center for systems based on Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT or openHAB.

Silicon Labs’ EFR32MG21 chipset ensures low power consumption, stable communication and full utilization of hardware potential, which translates into reliable operation even with an extensive network of ZigBee devices.

One device – many functions

The Dongle-LMG21 can operate as a ZigBee coordinator, ZigBee router, Thread RCP or in MultiPAN mode, allowing simultaneous operation of ZigBee and Thread devices. This provides a great deal of configuration flexibility – both for novice users and those planning more advanced Matter over Thread installations. A dedicated SONOFF Dongle Flasher tool and instructions page make changing the firmware literally a snap. This is a major convenience for those who want to quickly customize the device for a specific application.

Compatibility with open platforms

The device was designed with open source environments in mind. It works seamlessly with popular automation systems, allowing local control, scene expansion and full data control – without dependence on the manufacturer’s cloud.

Adjustable antenna and extended range

An adjustable antenna with a clever design allows you to adjust its positioning to suit your installation conditions. In an open space, a stable range of up to 140 meters is possible, making it easy to build a reliable ZigBee network in larger apartments or single-family homes.

Compact, robust design

The ultrasonically welded housing combines compact dimensions with high durability. The dongle is about 65% smaller than older designs, so it doesn’t take up space at the USB port and is also great for installation with mini-computers or SBC servers. The kit comes with a USB extension cable (0.5 m), which allows the dongle to be moved away from the computer or Raspberry Pi chassis. This solution effectively reduces electromagnetic interference and improves the stability of wireless communication.
