Reservoirs provide the water cooling system with a reservoir to compensate for the natural loss of coolant, for example in the form of diffusion through the hoses, and to prevent air bubbles in the circuit, which could in turn lead to increased pump noise.

In addition to these purely practical aspects, Reservoirs can also set visual highlights. Acrylic tubes are particularly suitable for this, as their transparent appearance offers various modding options (lighting, coloured liquids, etc.). They are also flexible in terms of placement and are available in various sizes.

This is a model from Bitspower with two threaded POM caps. These are sealed against the acrylic tube with two rubber rings. The tube is comparably thick and therefore particularly stable. The upper cap of the Reservoir, which is normally installed vertically, has a single G1/4 inch thread.

Of particular interest: Inside, the inlet leads into three individual openings, which are laterally oriented. This creates a special visual effect when the upper connection is used as the inlet and the water flows in three individual jets against the acrylic body.

In contrast, the lower POM cap has three G1/4 inch threads. One of these openings is connected to an internal flow tube. This is used as the inlet when both the inlet and outlet are led to the Reservoir from below. However, if the inlet comes from the top, one of the other two openings should be used as the outlet, as otherwise air would be sucked in if the water level is below the height of the flow tube.

The Reservoir comes with two sealing plugs, which seal off the two unused openings. One of these plugs is transparent and can accommodate an optional lighting module, allowing for effective light mods.

Also included are two mounting rings. These are simply slid over the tube and pressed together at the desired location. Thanks to their straight outer surface and corresponding holes, they can be flexibly screwed in place. The screws and connectors required for installation are not included.
