The TerraMaster D5 Hybrid is a modern 5-bay DAS enclosure that combines the capacity of traditional HDDs with the high performance of M.2 NVMe SSDs. The design supports up to 2 SATA 3.5" or 2.5" drives and 3 M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs simultaneously, allowing you to create a flexible data storage environment with a capacity of up to 68 TB. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface provides a bandwidth of up to 10 Gb/s, and compatibility with Windows, macOS, and Linux facilitates integration with various workstations. This solution is ideal for both archiving large data sets and working with files that require fast access.

Hybrid storage architecture for greater performance

The biggest advantage of the D5 Hybrid model is the ability to combine two different data storage technologies in a single enclosure. HDDs can serve as storage for less frequently used files, while fast NVMe SSDs are ideal for handling frequently used projects, databases, or multimedia content. This solution allows you to optimize storage expansion costs without sacrificing high performance. As a result, users can store large amounts of data while enjoying instant access to their most important resources.

Fast Data Transfer via USB 3.2 Gen 2

The enclosure uses a USB Type-C port compliant with the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard, offering a bandwidth of up to 10 Gb/s. In practice, this allows for read speeds of up to 980 MB/s when using NVMe SSDs and up to 960 MB/s in a SATA SSD RAID 0 configuration. This high performance translates to faster copying of large files, more efficient video editing, and shorter backup times. Additionally, broad compatibility with USB 3.0, USB 3.1, USB4, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4 enhances the device’s versatility.

Flexible RAID Configuration and Secure Data Storage

The D5 Hybrid offers hardware support for RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD, and Single Disk modes for two SATA drives. This allows you to tailor the storage’s operation to your individual needs—from maximum performance to enhanced data security. The automatic RAID array rebuild feature further enhances the protection of stored files. Thanks to an intuitive switch, configuring the selected mode is quick and requires no advanced technical knowledge.

Automatic backups with TPC Backupper

The package includes TPC Backupper software, which enables users to create automatic backups on Windows computers. The program allows you to schedule backups of folders and disk partitions, ensuring that important data is regularly protected without the need for manual intervention. Support for incremental and differential backups helps reduce storage space usage and shortens the time required for subsequent backups. This is a practical solution for users who want to enhance the security of their data and automate the backup process.

Quiet Operation and Effective Cooling

Despite its large capacity and high performance, the TerraMaster D5 Hybrid remains exceptionally quiet. An intelligent 80 mm fan automatically adjusts its speed based on the current load, effectively dissipating heat from inside the enclosure. Additional ventilation openings enhance airflow, helping to maintain stable operating conditions for the drives. With a noise level of approximately 19 dB(A), the device can operate in an office or home office without distracting the user.

Convenient Operation and Quick Drive Installation

The design is optimized for easy storage expansion. SATA drives can be installed without tools, allowing for quick installation or replacement of storage media. Installing M.2 NVMe SSDs is just as simple, thanks to a sliding cover that provides convenient access to the slots. With compact dimensions of 222 × 119 × 154 mm, the enclosure takes up minimal space on your desk while offering storage capacity typically found in much larger storage systems.
